The vibrant tradition of illustrated manuscripts began by the 10-11th century. Several Buddhists texts from Bihar and Bengal written and illustrated under the Pala rulers are now in many collections and museums. In western Indian, the Jain sacred texts take the viewers through a visual journey. The use of red, blue and gold allow the reader to undertake a vibrant journey which enhances his understanding of the texts. The LD Indology collection has a vast range of illustrated manuscripts.
