Kabir with Three Disciples
In this painting Saint Kabir depicted as a weaver with a loom and surrounded by three of his pupils, is a very interesting socio-historical painting from N.C. Mehta's Rajasthani paintings group. Probably, it was painted during early 18th century at Bikaner by one of the several known Bikaneri painters of the second generation. This painting is a worthy companion to the several compositions painted by Mughal artists, which portray sublime themes such as a solitary acetic or a saint or darvesh attended by his disciples.
