Ragini Todi
Yet another composition by poetess Singar Sakhī, this verse rendered in Rāga Todi perhaps alludes to the darśana of Rajbhoga during which the main meal of the day is oDisplayered to the deity. The verse reads, “Courteously bending down, Rādhā serves the meal with her hands. Balarām, Krsṇa and Nandbābā enjoying the meal present a blemish free picture. Jasumati, sitting beside them is also over and over again oDisplayering them food along with other maidens of Braj. She asks and orders for all that her son Krsṇa desires and prefers to eat. The young women derive utmost pleasure watching them at their meals. Partaking in this pleasure, Singar Sakhī too prepares a paan and rushes with a glass (of water?)”.
In this painting, Nanda, Krsṇa and Balarām are depicted enjoying their meals surrounded by the young women of Braj, Rādhā who is depicted lowering herself politely and serving them the desired food, and the elderly figure of Jashodā depicted with grey hair that is portrayed seated across them. One of the maidens’ could be representing Singar Sakhī as she includes herself in the sequence of events.
