Lokapurusha
The shape of Loka is that of a man standing in erect position and his hands held on the waist. The entire Loka is divided into Adholoka or the nether world (from foot to the waist), Madhyaloka or the mid-world (from the waist to the navel) and Urdhvaloka or the ethereal world (from the navel to the head).

There are many islands and oceans in the Madhyaloka. Jambu dvipa is at the very centre of this Loka. There are oceans like Lavana Samudra (the Ocean of the Salts), Kalodadhi (Black Ocean) and so on and islands like Dhatki khanda dvipa, Pushkar dvipa and so on. Of all the dvipas, only the first two dvipas and a half have human population. This expanse is called Manushya loka or the Continent of Mortals. Manushya, i.e., human beings who live there, must inevitably spend many years in narakas just below the earth level. Therefore, Manushya is also given the nomenclature Narakiya, the inhabitant of naraka (hell). There are seven levels of Hell or naraka which lie below the layer of the earth.
