Lokapurusha
The shape of Loka is that of a man standing erect and his hands resting on the waist. The entire Loka is divided into Adholoka or the nether world (from foot to the waist), Madhyaloka or the mid-world (from the waist to the navel) and Urdhvaloka or the ethereal world (from the navel to the head). The shape of the Adholoka is that of a bowl turned upside down, that of the Madhyaloka is like a fringe and the shape of the Urdhvaloka is like drum. The shape of the Madhyaloka and the Urdhvaloka taken together is that of a bowl. The table land of the mount of Meru bisects the Madhyaloka in two halves. Adholoka is the abode of Bhuvanpati and Vyantara. Below it, are the seven hells such as Dhanodadhi, Dhanvata, Tanuvata and so on. The first is below the second and so on with great distances separating one from the other. There are many islands and oceans in the Madhyaloka. Jambu dvipa is at the very centre of this Loka. There are oceans like Lavaṇa Samudra (the Ocean of the Salts), Kalodadhi (Black Ocean) and so on and islands like Dhatki khanda dvipa, Pushkar dvipa and so on. Of all the dvipas, only the first two dvipas and a half have human population. This expanse is called Manushya loka or the Continent of Mortals. Jyotisha Chakra comprising of planets like the sun, stars, and constellations, is above the Manushya loka. Far above this Chakra is the Urdhvaloka, which is the abode of divinities with heavenly chariots. The Deva lokas are twelve in number. Above them are nine Gaivaiyakas and still above are 5 Anuttaras. Above these Anuttara vimanas or heavenly chariots is the Siddhasila, the shape of which is that of a crescent. Above the Siddhasila, in the topmost part of the Loka, reside Siddha Parmatmas. A large expanse called the Trasnadi is exactly in the middle of the entire Loka. The shape of the Trasnadi is that of a vertical cylinder.
