Dipak Raga Line Drawing on paper
This fine outline drawing is titled Raga Dipak in Devanagari script. The youthful couple in the drawing are seated resting against the bolster and engrossed with each other. They are seated under the extended shade in front of a pavilion. Several lamps have been lit on stands, while several clay lamps are arranged on the three sides of a pond in the foreground.

Perhaps the female musician, who is playing on the vina and who is partially submerged in water, is actually singing the Dipak raga. It is said that after the tragic experience of Tansen (the famous incident about Tansen singing the raga Dipak so profoundly that, it caused burning effect on him) this raga was rarely sung. Partially submerging the body of the singer in a pond full of water, is a plausible precaution.
