The ancient knowledge of India is preserved in manuscripts. The ancient literature of this tradition is still preserved in the form of manuscripts throughout India and abroad. Our Institute Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology is preserving such literature. The institute has a collection of about 80000 ancient manuscripts. The institute is equally active in research work as well as conservation and preservation of manuscripts. Knowledge of ancient scripts is also essential for the research work of ancient manuscripts, for which the Institute is organizing workshops on script and text editing from time to time. In the same tradition, the next workshop is going to be organized from 19th to 24th December 2022. In this workshop, peer-reviewed lectures on Critical Text Editing are organized by various scholars. It is also planned to study Sharada Script and ancient Devanagari script.

          The aim of this workshop is to (i) familiarize the next generation with the old scripts and (ii) to initiate the field of research and work to publish the topics contained in the manuscripts which are currently unpublished. Persons interested in doing this type of research, professors as well as M.A., Ph.D. Students are eligible to join this workshop.

          Registration is mandatory for this 6-day state level workshop. Registration Fee is Rs. 500/-. The institute has arranged for the participants to have one fixed meal per day during the workshop. All participants will have to make their own arrangements for transportation and accommodation, including those coming from outstation. No other honorarium will be paid. Full attendance at the workshop is mandatory, and participants who are present on all 6 days will be given a certificate.
