Priyakant T. Munshaw

Late Shri Priyakant T. Munshaw was a renowned industrialist and a well-known educationalist. During his lifetime he was connected with several businesses, social as well as educational institutions. He was the past president of Ahmedabad Textile Mills Association, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Gujarat Export Corporation, and was a leading member of the executive committee of Federation of Indian Chamber and Industries, New Delhi. He was also a committee member of the Indian Cotton Mills Federation, Mumbai.

 
He was a great philanthropist and played a dynamic role in gathering/ collecting donations and looking after the management of several charity Institutions like, Sankat Nivaran Society-Ahmedabad, Kidney Foundation and Research Centre, Gujarat Hospital and Research Centre and many more.


In the field of education, he was actively connected with the Ahmedabad Education Society as its Hon. Secretary and a member of the Board of Trustees. He was also on the governing body of the Gujarat Law Society. He was very fond of sports and contributed to various sports activities that have taken shape in the city and was a member of the governing body of Ahmedabad Rifle Association.

Shri PT Munshaw and his wife Smt. Nandini Munshaw gifted a valuable collection of coins which belonged to Late Shri Thakorbhai Munshaw, father of Late Shri Priyakant T. Munshaw


These coins were originally acquired by Late Shri Thakorbhai Munshaw, father of Late Shri Priyakant T. Munshaw. The collection includes the earliest punched-marked coins called bentbar (c.600 B.C.), Akbar's Din-i-Ilahi coin, Jahangir's Zodiac series in silver, Adil Shah's Larin (dated 1668 A.D.) and contemporary currency.
