A form of seated Shiva image facing south (dakshina). Here, Shiva is conceived as a teacher of Yoga, explaining the concept of creation of the cosmos, elucidating music, and as giving exposition to the sciences. The right hand in vyakhyana mudra symbolizes the action of teaching, imparting knowledge. He is placed on a high seat in the convention for representing a guru, also called the virasana posture. Interestingly in the process of preaching, Shiva reveals his canine teeth. The rigidity of the body indicates resolute will and force of thought.
