Baramasa Pausa (December-January)
The poet exaggerates the fact that everything is cold in this season, such as water, food, dress, house, the earth, the sky. People prefer fire and sunshine, and company of women. The days are short, the nights long, and such season is not the time for quarreling among lovers. Of course the verse ends by the nāyikā entreating the lover not to go away from her. The artist is indeed innovative in this painting. He does not depict any foliage or objects surrounding the architectural structure. Rather, the manner the artist has covered rest of the space outside the architecture with dark blue colour, almost makes us shudder and become aware of depiction of the cold winter.
