Portrait of a Pahari Prince
It is a portrait of Nawab Muin-ul-Mulk known as Mir Mannu, who was the viceroy of the Punjab from 1748 to 1753. In this painting, he has been depicted in his thirties. The Nawab wears white jama, with a white turban and elaborate necklaces. A dagger is stuck in his gold brocaded patka worked with floral designs. The carpet is silver and green and so also the bolster against which he is seated. His huqqa is silver enamelled. The foreground is white but the background is gold while the sky is bluish with streaks of mauve and orange.
