Folio of Safavid Persian Poetry
Folio NCM.374 is executed by no less a calligrapher than Mohammed Hussain Kashmiri, who was in the Royal Atelier of Emperor Akbar. He received title and honour in Akbar’s court, and was addressed as Zareen Kalam by the Mughal Emperor. A celebrated and therefore much sort out calligrapher of his day, he received mention in the contemporary writings on important calligraphers and the art of calligraphy. Which interestingly was till recently a more respected art than perhaps painting was in many sections on Asian society.
