Study of Camel
The conspicuous aspect of the camel delineated in this drawing, is that it belongs to the hairy variety. The desert animal has been tethered to a wooden post by means of a rope. The fore-legs have also been tied together with a rope so that the animal does not run away. The relatively stationary position gives the opportunity to the to keep observing the animal and make a well-studied detailed draeing. It appesrs that while the camel is held captivate in this manner it assumes a peculiar posture as far as the hind legs are concerned. They are placed far apart, the distance between the hoofs is quite wide and thus the hind legs are curved shapes. Consequently they make a sharp with the two relatively vertical fore-legs. All these four legs carry the bulk and the weight of the camel's entire body, imparting the animal a strong three-dimensionality.
