Bather
The subject of a bather provides opprtunity to delineate a sensuous nude but essentially such a theme demands the mastery of female body. This is one such unique painting. It is also thematically distinct from such paintings which depict the subject of woman performing surya puja as the last stage of taking a bath. The bather here is in standing position, obviously, she is naked and has just wrapped the diaphanous sari ariund her slender body. She has raised her arms high up above her head to hold the boarder of the sari as a screen behind her. While doing so she is turning her head towards the left in expectation of someone's arrival. In this manner the standing bather strikes a very elegant and expressive posture.
