Emancipation of Lord Mahavira
Emancipation of Lord Mahavira, which is also described as Mahavira nirvana.
Nirvana, the conquering of birth and rebirth cycle is the fifth and last of the Pancha Kalyanakas of a Tirthankara, the Siddha, the perfect being. A standard iconography is formulated viz. crowned seat is provided the crescent moon shaped, siddhasila, which is held on mountain peaks. Two trees (probably asoka tree) are delineated on either side. This iconography is repeated in the case of the other three Tirthankaras often without their identification signs (lanchhana).
