Ragamala, Ragini Setmalhar
Chaupai:
By reason of separation, Malhāra is in a mood of renunciation,
She has become an ascetic by adopting the dress of a male,
Body smeared with ashes, she wears around her loins a deer skin,
Immersed in (the sorrow of) separation, her hair is disheveled,
Her yogic trances have given her matted locks,
She sits in the mystic posture of a yogi,
She is counting on the day on which her lover in due to return,
She has renounced all the enjoyments of the world,
“The black clouds have cast their shadows on all quarters,
My beloved who is a generous lover has forgotten me!
Doha:
She has a frail and delicate body, for she is
A separated lover and she is sighing heavily
For, separation and desire to meet Śri Rāga
Has killed the happiness of her body.
