Ragini Meghmalhar
Set in a lushly forested landscape and portraying the joyful and merry mood coupled with the rainy season, Rāga Meghmalhār represented in high spirits is dancing with the Nāyikās to the accompaniment of the melody from the bina that he is playing and the mañjirā and pakhāwaj being played by the women. Dressed in the symbolic peacock - plume apparel, the Rāga subtly indicates commencement of the season of mating and the festival of love. He also boasts a pot of first blossoms in his hands implying inception of new life in the rainy season and celebration of the same.
