Chaurpanchasika Verse 29
The illustrations of such explicit verses of Chaurapanchasika were probably never painted. This perticular painting is the illustration of verse 29.
This composition is simple and does not include any additional symbols except the enclosed pavilion with the bed. Champavati is seated as epitome of beauty, the poet compares her with Rati (the wife of Kamadeva) and perhaps the lamp in the bedroom is the analogy delineated by the painter for her lustrous face. Bilhana is depicted standing and here he is once again re-aDisplayirming how there is no second to his beloved's beauty, by raising the suchi finger of his right hand.
