1Who is Shri Lalbhai Dalpatbhai after whom the institute is named?
Lalbhai Dalpatbhai (1863-1912) was an industrialist and one of the first generation textile mill owners from Ahmedabad, who laid the foundation of the present-day Lalbhai group of Industries. It was his son Kasturbhai Lalbhai who founded the L D Institute of Indology.

2Where is the LD Institute of Indology located?
The Museum is located within the campus of L D Institute of Indology, right opposite the Gujarat University Bus stop at Navrangpura. It is in line adjacent with the famous Ahmedabad-in-Gufa designed by the same Architect Shri Bal Krishna V Doshi. Approaching the campus you can’t miss the beautiful carved white marble temple known as the Aadinath Bhagawan Jain Derasar.

1How large is the museum, and how long will it take to peruse it?
The museum is spread across two floors and comprises seven different collections.
School kids may tour the museum in 15 minutes, while interested adults may take around an hour.

3Does the museum have an entry ticket?
No, we do not charge an entry fee for our visitors (national or International). But we encourage you to pick up a book or small memento from the museum shop.

4Is photography allowed in the Museum?
Photography is restricted inside the museum building, although you may drop in your request at the Museum office if it is for academic purpose. For research and publication, you may drop in your queries at ldmuseum1985@gmail.com. Students are expected to carry their School / College I-Card with them.

6Can we offer our voluntary services to the Museum?
Yes, the Museum does encourage voluntary services from helping visitors at the Information Desk, facilitating art projects at family programs, volunteering at special events, or providing assistance to staff, volunteers help the Museum on a daily basis. The most frequent engagements were by school students.

7Do you have the provision of a Guide?
Our curators and interns double up as guides, and conduct tours on the weekend. You may avail free walkthrough of the collection on Saturdays and Sundays.
