Ramayana
Folio 124 may be the representation of a fierce battle to focus on the bravery and the mastery of handling wide range of weapons on the part of Kuśa before his confrontation with Rāma’s army. The young Kuśa on the upper right of the folio is single handedly fighting a whole army spread into rest of the space. Many weapons are depicted by the artist flying in space in front of Kuśa, some of which hurled by him and some aimed against the enemy. Presently he is bravely releasing an arrow. The mighty enemy army consists of numerous foot soldiers, warriors riding on horses and on elephants. Already Kuśa has wounded many soldiers and elephants whose limbs are cut and strewn around on the battle field. The leading enemy warriors are inscribed, viz., Nagahuya, on top, followed by Naga 2, below him Shainavaha on chariot. Naga 4 is killed and head severed, while Naga 3 is depicted with his severed arms. In the sky above, the inscription describes that Nagahuya’s head (which is floating) has been severed to be a part of Śiva’s mundamālā (skull garland).
