Ragamala, Ragini Meghmalhar
Chaupai:
Meghmalhār is clever, wise and a noble king. He dances well and enjoys the pleasures of life with gay abandon. Of a slightly dusky complexion with bright shining eyes, king Meghmalhār is dressed handsomely, wearing a tiger skin, and adorned with various kinds of bright ornaments. He is in the company of his beautiful wives bedecked with jewels that carry all kinds of musical accompaniments and are in tandem with their fast beats.
With the upānga (vinā?) held high, the king dances with the maidens to the loud resounding beat of drums and clapping. The dancing and music bring forth clouds of various colors in the sky which is now overcast with drooping clouds. The moving clouds thicken to the accompaniment of thunder and lightning, which brings rain with jingling music.
Doha:
The season is the pleasant day of rain (when) couples are in hilarious dalliance and they spell their love in colorful notes to sing in ripples of melodies.
