Ramayana
This folio is divided in two separate spaces, the major part representing the Ayodhya city, its name is written on top of the entrance gate, and probably it represents the palace area. In the right corner in front of the oblique wall of the town is delineated what may be called the ‘outskirts’. It comprises of cluster of huts and a lane between them on which are standing the four messengers (harakare) witnessing the conversation between the washer-man (dhob, according to the spellings in the inscribed texts) and his daughter (dhobi di kudi) on one hand, with his son-in-law (dhobe da jumai) on the other hand.
