Portrait of a Nobleman
He is a man of dignity, apparently a Rajput warrior, with a huge bolster supporting him and surrounded by other paraphernalia such as the weapons, sword and shield, a huqqa with a long curled pipe and also a spittoon. They are placed on the floor according to their relative importance. Though seated cross-legged, he seems to feel at ease with what seems to be the interior of an apartment. He has just paused from his puDisplaying at his huqqa. However, there is no ambience of a palace, such as lavishly designed carpet or flooring. The gentleman is wrapped with a yellow-green shawl embellished by a crimson border. This hue of crimson colour is interestingly repeated on the bolster, on the scabbard of sword and also the long curled pipe of the huqqa.
