Raga Malhar
The verse illustrates the delight of the Nāyikā as she experiences the merriment of monsoon showers in the companionship of her beloved. The verse reads as follows, “Here comes the season of rain showers, bestowing immense pleasure to me. The one who delights me is by my side. Clusters of clouds in many colors and shapes have emerged; the joyful cries of the chātak birds, parrots and peacocks appear like an auspicious song.”
Enjoying the scenic rain showers, the Nāyaka and Nāyikā are depicted seated along with their attendants on the terrace. Conspicuous clusters of swarming clouds with streaks of lightening, the imagery of parrots perched in the foliage of the tree, the cranes, a lone peacock surrounded by peahens entirely comply with the verbal description.
