Chaurpanchasika Verse 19
The illustrations of such explicit verses of Chaurapanchasika were probably never painted. This painting depicts verse 19. This is one of the paintings in which the poet himself, i.e. the nayaka is absent, implying that he is gazing from a distance. The nayaka remembers the nayika's beautiful body which is the resort of love-sports. He imagines that her limbs are now aDisplaylicted by the fire of separation. This explains the avoidance of the male character in the painting so that nayika's loneliness is made conspicuous. The artist, in order to focus on her psychological mood and physical beauty, as well as the portrayal of her swan-like movements, he has delineated her as if she is walking from the structured pavilion towards the lotus pond.
