Panaghata Lila
The painting depicts the scene of Panaghata Lila.
Krishna, Balarama and the other cowherd boys harassing the gopis at the river bank is a similar action drama as the Dana lila episode. However, in this episode the gopis are fetching water in the pots which they carry over their heads. The ingenious artist has devised an interesting landscapde setting along a riverbank with three landmarks. A tree with a square platform around it is the central piece. On the left is a small temple and the tree behind it, where as a small mandapa is delineated on the right presumably the residence of a mendicant with two disciples. They apparently belong to the 'naked sadhus' sect, who are warming themselves with the help of a small 'bonfire', while the mendicant is smoking from a huqqa.
