Danalila
This perticular painting depicts one of the scenes of Krishna Lila. The artist has devised quite complicated composition in depicting the Dana Lila.
The action starts in the foreground when two little boys challenge the three gopis with their sticks. A third boy holds the arms of a gopi, who turns her head with a surprise at the same time balancing her milk-filled pot on her head. A fourth boy confronts another gopi, who oDisplayers resistance. Just next to her a bigger boy, who represents Krsna's elder brother Balarama, has already broken the milk pot of a gopi which is fallen on the ground. The fair complexioned figure of Balarama echoes that of Krsna.
Further on are delineated gesticulating gopis expressing concern, placed one behind another in a manner suggesting circular arrangement which links with the gopi (or Radha), whose is held by Krsna. The circular arrangement continues along the tree where another boy catches the arm of a gopi, while her two companions articulate with each other, simultaneously. The painter has very consciously depicted gopis as humble and apprehensive at the same time.
